finally!!
if you listen close enough you may be able to hear it.......yes, that is the sound of the pitter-patter that eric and i have been waiting to hear. it's true, emma finally decided to start walking today. just like that! i was in the kitchen getting lunch ready for the two of us. i looked into the family room where she was just standing there looking at me. next thing i knew, she was walking towards me, like she had been walking for months. when she saw how excited i was, i think she thought it was a game. she passed me and kept on cruising, laughing the whole way! after all of the struggle and bribery and therapy....i guess i should know by now that she does things on her schedule...hence being 15 weeks early!

a sad, sad day
unlike the rest of the dog-lovers in my family, eric and i both share a love for cats. for those of you who know us, we have two cats who look just alike...whobbie who would be 21 next may and luna who is 4. eric found whobbie when she was just a day old and he has raised her ever since. we noticed over the weekend that whobbie looked to be in some pain when she was getting up from laying around. we had a vet appointment today, so we figured we would wait it out and tell the doctor about it when we saw him (he has been whobbies vet almost her whole life, so he knows her well). well when we got to the vet, we didn't get good news. whobbie was in what seem to be kidney failure and it was pretty bad. she
had lost over two pounds in the last year leaving her at a mere 4 1/2 pounds. the vet told us that it wasn't looking like she had very much time and of that time left, she wouldn't be comfortable. we were given the option to go home with her and he would send us with some pain medication or we could go ahead and put her to sleep there. it was a very tough decision, especially for eric, but we decided to avoid having her suffer anymore and went ahead and sent whobbie to heaven. we cried most of the day and wondered how luna would handle loosing her best friend, even though whobbie didn't like her very much!

the engles'...in a nutshell
for those of you who don't know me, my name is jane. i am a wife, a mother and a nurse who recenly traded her career to be a stay at home mommy. my husband eric and i have been together for almost 11 years and have been married for 6 of them...i couldn't be more in love. eric is a full time driver for ups and a cheif in the untied states coast guard. in march of 2009 we welcomed our "tiny" baby girl emma into the world. she was quite a surprise...in more ways than one! when we found out we were expecting, that was one shock, when she decided to come 15 weeks early, that was another! i deivered a 24 week gestation, micro-preemie weighing just 15 ounces and reaching a great height of 10.5 inches! after a long 123 day stay in the nicu at all children's hopsital in saint petersburg, florida, we were finally able to take our bundle of joy home (follow her journey at www.emmajaneengles.blogspot.com). we've been home for just over a year now and things have finally started to settle down...just in time to start thinking about having a brother or sister for our little one :)
jumping in!
so I am finally ready to jump head first into the blogging world. Now that I am a stay at home mom, I figure there should be no reason why I can’t update friends and family on what goes on in a day in the life of us. It may not be the most exciting life, but it’s our life, and we love it!
